Community Involvement
In celebration of our 30th anniversary in 2008, we have volunteer activities planned in each community where we have offices. Throughout the year we will be involved with such organizations as the National Food Bank, National Arbor Day, Komen Race for the Cure, Surfrider Foundation, Adopt-a-Stream, Keep America Beautiful, and others.
Our Sarasota, Florida, office organized a blood drive in our office complex. Organizers said it was the “very first blood drive in our office complex and was deemed a success by the blood bank personnel.”

Adrianne Coombes, Kevin Mackeben, Yi Wang and Sarah Merritt participate in the Raleigh office’s first bake sale, held February 18, to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The office has set a goal of raising $6,500, which is the average cost of making one wish come true, and will hold a bake sale every other Monday. The first sale netted $121.
Kelley Garner and Tim Propst stock shelves at the All Faith’s Food Bank in Sarasota. More than 100 agencies receive food from the Food Bank, and workers say that requests for food have doubled in the last year.
Chuck Donnell volunteers as the head proctor at the South Central Regional MathCounts Competition on February 16 in Fayetteville, North Carolina Thirty teams of students competed in the event, which McKim & Creed helped sponsor.
Volunteers from McKim & Creed’s Clearwater office paint the home of a single mother with three children on March 1 as participants of “Paint Your Heart Out Clearwater,” an annual event sponsored by the city of Clearwater.
In Virginia Beach, McKim & Creed employees volunteer with EQUI-KIDS, a Therapeutic Riding Program offering horseback riding lessons to disabled individuals.
In Wilmington and Raleigh, North Carolina, we participate in Light the Night, raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
