McKim & Creed provided Multibeam Hydrographic Surveys Services for the Houston Ship Channel on behalf of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District. The project focused on the comprehensive collection and analysis of high-resolution bathymetric data to support navigation safety, channel maintenance, and development planning in one of the nation’s busiest waterways.
Utilizing advanced multibeam sonar technology, the team captured detailed underwater topography, sediment composition, and identified potential obstructions across designated sections of the channel. The scope of services included data acquisition, rigorous quality assurance and quality control, data processing, and the creation of accurate geospatial deliverables to meet stringent regulatory and operational standards.
The primary objectives were to ensure compliance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) specifications, optimize dredging activities, and facilitate efficient maritime operations. The project’s deliverables supported regulatory compliance, enhanced navigation safety, and provided actionable data for ongoing channel maintenance and development planning. The project received a CPARS Rating of Very Good to Exceptional, reflecting the quality and reliability of the services provided.
