McKim & Creed provided engineering services for the design, procurement and installation of new equipment to increase the chilled water generation capacity at the Yarbrough Chiller Plant. Included were a new 2,000-ton chiller, two new 2,000-ton field-erected cooling towers, and all auxiliaries to support the chiller installation. The project team resolved challenges associated with vortexing in the tower basins, matching field-erected cooling towers to existing tower profiles while making adjustments in basin design and structural modifications, and integrating with existing Honeywell controls system.
