Leadership

McKim & Creed is managed by a board of directors and leadership team that support and embrace our culture of people helping people build a sustainable company dedicated to helping our clients and our employees achieve their goals.

Many of our leaders joined us very early in their careers and have lived that culture with us for decades. They were new to their craft, eager to learn and willing to take some risks. Their talents, enthusiasm and client dedication were recognized and rewarded with expanded opportunities and additional responsibilities. They have been supplemented by others on our leadership team who bring valuable experience gained at other successful firms.

Our leadership team embodies McKim & Creed’s commitment to our employees, our clients, and the bright future of McKim & Creed. Come meet them!

John T. Lucey, Jr., PE Chief Executive Officer “I WOULD LIKE OUR CLIENTS TO FEEL AS THOUGH THE MCKIM & CREED TEAM IS AN EXTENSION OF THEIR STAFF, FOCUSED ON ACHIEVING THEIR GOALS IN AN INNOVATIVE, HIGH-QUALITY, COST-EFFECTIVE MANNER.” John joined McKim & Creed in November 2014 as the successor to our founders Herb McKim, Jr. and Michael Creed. John is leveraging his rich experience in managing growing, profitable engineering and construction practices throughout his career at Chester Engineers, USFilter, Veolia, and HDR. He is building on McKim & Creed’s strong foundation to achieve the goals we’ve set out in our 2025 Strategic Plan. Those goals call for significant and consistent growth as we expand all our services into our geographic footprint and provide additional, complementary services to our valuable client base. Achievement of these strategic plan goals will reward our employee owners with consistent growth in their ownership value in McKim & Creed. As CEO of McKim & Creed, John oversees technical, business development and corporate functions of the company and reports to the board of directors. Chris Nelson Chief Financial Officer “AFTER NEARLY FOUR DECADES OF BUSINESS, MCKIM & CREED HAS PROVEN ITSELF TO BE A FINANCIALLY SOUND CORPORATION THAT RESPONDS SUCCESSFULLY TO EVOLVING MARKETS AND SHIFTING ECONOMIC CONDITIONS.” Chris has more than two decades of experience in the fields of finance, accounting, operations management, and mergers and acquisitions. His McKim & Creed career began in 2015, following a successful position as partner/divisional CFO of Environmental Resources Management, a 5,000-person London-based environmental consulting firm. Chris oversees the overall financial health of the company, focusing on optimizing our capital structure, improving operational efficiencies and maintaining open, honest dialog with all of our employees regarding the company’s financial position. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and holds a bachelor’s degree from Valparaiso University and an MBA from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Street Lee, PE, ENV SP President of Engineering “I WOULD LOVE FOR MCKIM & CREED CLIENTS TO BE IMPRESSED WITH OUR RESPONSIVENESS TO THEIR NEEDS, WITH EXCELLENT VALUE-ADDED SERVICES AND WITH A TEAM OF PROFESSIONALS THAT THEY TRULY LIKE WORKING WITH ON THEIR PROJECTS.” Street joined McKim & Creed just three years after graduating from North Carolina State University. When the company established its Florida offices in 1994, he volunteered to relocate from Wilmington, North Carolina to Clearwater, Florida to oversee water and wastewater services. Under his guidance, McKim & Creed has become a leader in water and wastewater engineering in the Southeast, initiated industrial and design-build services, grown our niche instrumentation and control / SCADA and buried infrastructure renewal and replacement services, and entered the Georgia water and wastewater market. Tim Cawood, PLS President of Geomatics “I WANT OUR CLIENTS TO KNOW THAT WE ARE THE ‘GO TO’ FOLKS, THE EXPERTS AND THE TEAM THEY CAN COUNT ON FOR A RESPONSIVE, QUALITY SOLUTION, NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES MAY BE.” Tim began his career at McKim & Creed in 1985, when he came to work as a survey crew member. With his ability to understand and embrace new technology, and his aptitude for predicting the “next big thing” in the surveying industry, Tim quickly assumed a leadership position within McKim & Creed. Under his guidance, McKim & Creed has become the #1 survey and mapping firm in the Southeast and one of the largest and most comprehensive geomatics firms in the U.S. PHYLLIS ELIKAI, CPA, CIA, CMA CHIEF PEOPLE OFFICER "WHEN PEOPLE WORK IN ROLES THEY ARE NATURALLY BEST SUITED FOR, THEY ARE MOST SUCCESSFUL AND HAPPY. OUR CHARGE IS TO HELP PEOPLE DISCOVER WHAT THAT IS AND PROVIDE AN ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH THEY CAN EXCEL.” More than 25 years ago, Phyllis came to McKim & Creed to fulfill a temporary assignment as a budget and finance specialist – and she never left. During her career with McKim & Creed, Phyllis has contributed in many ways. She has served as procurement and finance manager, and has held the position of chief administrative officer leading our accounting, finance, administrative and human resources departments. Today, she is responsible for two of the company’s greatest assets: our employees and their safety. Kristin Beamer Corporate Marketing Director “THE PROFESSIONALS AT MCKIM & CREED MAKE THE MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION TEAM’S JOBS VERY EASY! I HAVE SO MANY INCREDIBLE STORIES TO TELL ABOUT OUR EMPLOYEES’ ACCOMPLISHMENTS, OUR CLIENTS’ AWARD-WINNING PROJECTS, AND THE COUNTLESS OTHER NEWSWORTHY THINGS THAT HAPPEN HERE DAILY.” As a former collegiate lacrosse player, Kristin turned her high energy and team-building skills to the A/E/C industry. With McKim & Creed since 2015, Kristin oversees strategic marketing activities companywide. She brings technical savvy, creativity and a wealth of experience to all McKim & Creed’s avenues of marketing and communications, including social media, special events, branding, public relations and proposal development. Tom Lawry Industrial/Design Build Business Unit Leader “MCKIM & CREED PROVIDES THE EXPERIENCE, EXPERTISE AND TECHNOLOGICAL SAVVINESS YOU EXPECT FROM A LARGE FIRM, YET WE ALSO OFFER THE FLEXIBILITY, FRIENDLINESS AND DEPENDABILITY OF A MUCH SMALLER COMPANY.” After more than a decade of overseeing design and construction of industrial projects for one of the largest engineering firms in the world, in 2015 Tom joined McKim & Creed to start the company’s industrial design-build business unit. He couples his vast experience of the oil and gas, power, steel, automotive, chemical, food, refining and mining industries with his extensive understanding of the project complexities inherent in these industries. The result? Highly successfully projects and deeply satisfied clients. Matthew Daves, PE Building, Energy and Infrastructure (BEI) Business Unit Leader "WHAT DIFFERENTIATES MCKIM & CREED IS THE AMOUNT OF CARE WE PROVIDE TO OUR CLIENTS. WE TRULY CARE ABOUT MAKING A DIFFERENCE FOR OUR CLIENTS, AND STRIVE TO EARN THEIR HIGHEST LEVEL OF TRUST.” Matthew came to McKim & Creed in 2013 when we acquired United Engineering Group. He embraced the company and our culture wholeheartedly and is the business unit leader for our BEI group. In this role, Matthew manages a team of engineers and designers who develop sustainable, cost-effective designs for MEP building systems and central energy plants, provide clean energy solutions, and focus on clients in the educational, healthcare, industrial and commercial sectors. Edward Pollard, PE, JD General Counsel “CLIENTS SHOULD BE COMFORTABLE WORKING WITH MCKIM & CREED BECAUSE OF OUR EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE. I PERSONALLY USE MY BACKGROUND AND TRAINING IN BOTH ENGINEERING AND LAW TO HELP REDUCE RISK AND EXECUTE PROJECTS SAFELY AND SUCCESSFULLY.” Edward is not simply a North Carolina-licensed attorney; he is also a licensed engineer. This duality gives him unique insight into managing the risks that are inherent in an industry devoted to building, maintaining and improving infrastructure. As our in-house general counsel, Edward guides contract negotiations with clients, advises our leadership team, and devises strategies that minimize risk while maximizing opportunities. Grant Livengood, PE Planning, Development and Natural Resources (PDNR) Business Unit Leader “WE FOCUS NOT ONLY ON PROVIDING OUR CLIENTS WITH AN EXCEPTIONAL PRODUCT OR SERVICE, BUT ALSO ON BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM, AND BY EXTENSION, BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY IN WHICH THEIR PROJECT IS LOCATED.” Grant started working at McKim & Creed while he was a civil engineering student at North Carolina State University, and has now been with the firm for two decades. Over the years, his skills with state and federal permitting, capacity for building successful and long-term client relationships, and knack for meeting numerous concurrent deadlines made him a standout. In his current role as business unit leader, he is responsible for commercial, residential and all other site development services throughout our geographic footprint.
