This presentation was conducted at the 2015 Florida Section AWWA Fall Conference by McKim & Creed’s Phil Locke, PE; Cheryl Robitzsch, PE of Haskell; and Len Bramble, PE, with the City of Venice, Florida.
The City of Venice (Fla.) Water Treatment Plant Reverse Osmosis and SCADA System design-build project won two awards for excellence: a 2015 honor award in the water/wastewater category from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Florida Region, and “Excellence in Construction” accolades from the Associated Builders and Contractors Florida First Coast Chapter in the public works/environmental (up to $100 million) category.
McKim & Creed partnered with the Haskell Company to create a design-build team that, according to the DBIA Florida website, “offered the City of Venice design-build experience, expert membrane design and implementation experience, construction self-performance, creative innovation, cost competitiveness and best value. The project provided progressive design-build services for the city’s Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant that replaced the existing RO skids and upgraded the existing plant SCADA infrastructure and improved wellfield communications.”
