Asset Management Solutions: Things to Consider
According to McKim & Creed GIS Manager Howard Hodder, MGIS, GISP, “Asset management is more than just a piece of software and/or hardware that can be purchased off the shelf. It is a complex combination of spatial inventories and work management processes, tracking and analysis, with a long line of cause-and-effect outcomes.”
Howard wrote this in an article published in summer 2020. The article appeared in CIO Applications, a publication that features technologies that can improve businesses.
In his article titled “Things to Consider When Planning an Asset Management Solution,” Howard defines asset management. He says it is a program that “applies financial, economic, engineering and other management practices to physical assets.” He explains why answering hard organizational questions is an essential first step. And he describes why data is king.
