Engineering, Inc.: Industry Drone Use Taking Flight
The November/December 2015 issue of ACEC’s award-winning magazine, Engineering, Inc., features the use of drone (unmanned aerial systems, or UAS) technology by several engineering firms, including McKim & Creed.
In the article titled “Industry Drone Use Taking Flight,” McKim & Creed’s Christian Stallings says, “We find that potential applications from this tool complement many of our existing services and in many cases provide a more cost-effective way to provide projects. For example, surveying stockpiles using traditional survey or terrestrial scanners used to take a few days, but now we find that we can create the same products in a day and hope to speed that up even more utilizing near real-time cloud processing in the future.”
The FAA has granted McKim & Creed exemption to fly three different UAS models.
