UNC Charlotte Student Wins McKim & Creed Engineering Scholarship

Engineering ScholarshipCongratulations to Maggie Wyatt, McKim & Creed summer intern, who has won this year’s $2,000 McKim & Creed Engineering Scholarship!

Maggie is a rising senior at UNC Charlotte, where she is studying mechanical engineering with an energy concentration and a minor in math. She is funding the vast majority of her education, working 20+ hours per week while carrying a full course load and earning a spot on either the dean’s list or chancellor’s list every semester. Last December Maggie was named junior marshal for accruing the highest GPA in her major. She is the first in her family to attend a four-year university.

“We are so proud of Maggie and her accomplishments here with McKim & Creed. Throughout the summer Maggie has been a great employee, who has really shown potential within our industry which is really evident by her attention to detail. From an employee side, she is very approachable, communicates well, takes direction well and has done an excellent job in learning more about BEI as a whole. We look forward to seeing Maggie grow into a great engineer in our industry and we are all incredibly excited for her in achieving this scholarship,” said her supervisor Sam Nguyen, PE, who is a regional manager with McKim & Creed.

The McKim & Creed Scholarship is administered by the National Society of Professional Engineers of N.C. and is funded through an endowment established by McKim & Creed with the Professional Engineers of N.C. Educational Foundation. The scholarship supports talented North Carolina students studying engineering at one of the 16 UNC campuses. This is the first year that the McKim & Creed Engineering Scholarship has been available to current McKim & Creed interns.
