Rick Dorr, RPLS, Joins McKim & Creed to Lead Geomatics in Texas

McKim & Creed is pleased to announce that Richard R. “Rick” Dorr, a Texas-licensed professional surveyor, has joined the team as regional director of geomatics in Texas. In this role, he will oversee the firm’s surveying, mapping and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) services throughout Texas.

Rick brings 39 years of surveying experience to McKim & Creed. He is an expert in the technical areas of surveying, project coordination, safety training and management.

During his career Rick has served as a survey manager, senior project manager, party chief, and a manager of field operations. He has led a number of safety-related initiatives, including a program that included AED/CPR/BBP and OSHA 10 certifications for survey crews, registered surveyors, engineers and senior management; he has planned and implemented a corporate-wide standardization of survey equipment to ensure seamless execution of survey operations; and, lastly, he has prepared safety plans, including identifying potential hazards and implementing controls to provide a safe working environment while holding and documenting daily safety briefings by survey crew personnel.

“We are thrilled to have Rick join our team as the new leader of our Texas Geomatics business! Rick has an extraordinary resume managing large, complex projects for both public and private clients and a reputation for providing quality work, safely, while meeting very demanding schedules. When getting to know Rick I learned quickly how much his clients and peers respected him and sang his praises. Rick is a good communicator and leader. We feel very fortunate to have him mentor, motivate and share his wealth of experience in the surveying profession with our professional and technical staff as we continue to grow in the Texas region,” said Tim Cawood, PLS, president of geomatics for McKim & Creed.

McKim & Creed has provided geomatics services in Texas for nearly a decade since acquiring SURVCON, a surveying company, in 2012. In Texas, McKim & Creed provides multidisciplinary and full-service geomatics services from offices in Houston, Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth.
