Commercial UAV News: Stereographic Mapping and Drones
October 15, 2018–A presentation scheduled for the upcoming DJI AirWorks Conference is featured in Commercial UAV News. The article is titled “Stereographic Mapping and Drones: Taking UAS Mapping to the Limit.”
The presentation features original research conducted by Christian Stallings, CP, R&D manager with McKim & Creed, and Orrin Thomas of Cardinal Systems. The two studied the accurate and consistent use of stereo compilation with an inexpensive UAS system. Specifically, they researched the impact of two previously untreated UAS mission parameters and three specific hardware configurations on photo triangulation accuracy. The research was conducted in a series of 22 UAS mapping flights. The systems used were a DJI Phantom 4 Pro with a standard configuration and a DJI Inspire 2 with a Zenmuse X4S and Airgon Loki PPK system.
