Water Saver: The Hydroponics Experiment at Emory University
March 16, 2016
The March 2016 issue of Treatment Plant Operator features an article about the WaterHub at Emory. This award-winning project is “dramatically reducing city water use on campus and serving as a research center for students and staff,” according to the article written by Doug Day.
Called “the ultimate in sustainability” by Brent Zern, Emory environmental engineer, the project repurposes wastewater for beneficial reuse using hydroponic reactors and reciprocating wetlands.
McKim & Creed served as the engineer on the project, which EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy called “a model for us all.”
