The new $56-million, 238,000-SF building will house the North Carolina National Guard Joint Forces Headquarters and the State of North Carolina Emergency Operations Center. Design services included storm drainage design, sedimentation and erosion control plans, and water distribution and sanitary sewer systems. McKim & Creed and O’Brien/Atkins worked together to design a green roof system at the entrance of the building above basement-level offices. North Carolina received about $41.5 million in federal economic stimulus money for the project.
