McKim & Creed provided design, permitting, environmental assessment, and construction administration services for this award-winning facility expansion. The $28.3-million upgrade, taking the facility from 6.0 to 12.0 mgd, included new headworks, a 5-stage biological nutrient removal system, tertiary filtration, 4 final clarifiers, UV disinfection, post aeration, and a new Class A sludge management process. A LEED-certified administration building was also added, making it the first wastewater-related facility in the US to earn this designation.
