McKim & Creed teamed with the Haskell Company as part of a progressive design-build approach and performed engineering design and construction services associated with replacing four 1.1 mgd reverse osmosis (RO) skids for the City of Venice. The RO system is a single-stage design which operates at 50% recovery, with the ability to expand to a 2-stage, higher recovery system in the future. Key to the project’s success was keeping three of the existing four RO skids in operation during the entire construction phase. Our design-build team accomplished this goal by working closely with the city to develop a detailed construction phasing and sequencing plan. McKim & Creed also provided instrumentation and controls design, programming and integration.
