McKim & Creed performed the engineering design and prepared the construction drawings, specifications and supporting documentation for permitting, construction and anticipated LEED certification of a new automotive dealership. Due to site constraints including poor soils, high groundwater tables and adjacent wetlands, this site required the use of an innovative stormwater treatment approach: constructed wetlands.
The constructed wetlands make use of forebays, deep pools, shallow water zones, shallow flood zones, and plants that thrive in these conditions. These elements provide sediment and nutrient removal prior to discharge into surface waters. In accordance with City of Jacksonville Stormwater Regulation, the constructed wetlands are sized to provide peak flow attenuation of the post-development conditions to predevelopment levels for 10-year storm events.
