This design-build project eliminated a safety hazard for vehicular traffic traveling along a state highway. Prior to this project, water trucks carrying oil and gas wastewater had to traverse a challenging, single lane, box culvert-style bridge to access the disposal well facility, which manages wastewater from the upstream oil and gas industry. This caused a major traffic disturbance, as the bridge was also used for residential traffic. Additionally, the bridge was beginning to deteriorate due to excessive wear and tear.
With the new bridge in place, the disposal well facility can now safely accommodate approximately 80 – 100 water trucks per day without disturbing normal traffic patterns.
