McKim & Creed served as the engineer for various phases for renovating and adding facilities at the Carolinas HealthCare System Valdese. The project included demolishing the 1950s vintage stand-alone nursing building; relocating and expanding the Cancer Center; relocating the mobile imaging (Tech Dock) equipment and housekeeping/EVS storage unit; and renovating the Emergency Department, McKim & Creed also studied the upgrades required for the existing central energy plant (CEP) to support the Cancer Center addition, as well as subsequent design phases and provision for two new entries to building 1 for the Ambulatory Surgical Care (ASC) unit and the newly located the Cancer Center.
