Marcellus Shale

Confidential Water Withdrawal, Pump Station and Freshwater Pipeline

The Marcellus Shale is one of the largest reserves of natural gas in the U.S. And it is literally in McKim & Creed’s backyard.

The Marcellus Shale formation covers more than 100,000 square miles in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. This is one of many Marcellus projects McKim & Creed has been involved with.

For this design-build venture, McKim & Creed designed and built a water intake structure, pump station and nearly 3,000 feet of pipeline. The pipe transports water from the Youghiogheny River through a freshwater pipeline in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania which connects the water intake structure and pump station at the river to a central impoundment facility on the client’s well pad.

By working with the natural resources available in our own backyard, we are, in a sense, helping to produce our own energy.
