Fort Stewart Solar Project

The Fort Stewart Solar Project is the third of three large-scale 30-MW solar projects in Georgia that are the result of a collaboration between the U.S. Army Office of Energy Initiatives, Fort Stewart, the General Services Administration and Georgia Power Company.

The project is located on approximately 250 acres on the Fort Stewart Army Installation, which is the largest installation east of the Mississippi River.

With nearly 140,000 solar panels, the Fort Stewart Solar Project produces renewable energy to approximately 4,300 homes each year.

McKim & Creed provided civil/site engineering; mechanical, engineering and plumbing engineering; and surveying services for this project. A new 115-kV utility substation supports power generation . A 34.5-kV distribution system of underground and overhead conductors, including fused switches and isolation sections, were provided to collect the generation at thirteen 2500-kVA transformers.
