The second directional drill included a short drill requiring a right-of-way use permit for the SCDOT. The next drill traversed 679 LF under a small tributary creek and adjoining sensitive environmental wetlands. As the main neared the GE plant on the west end, three more drills were conducted. The first of these three drills included a 1,100 LF drill more than 45 feet deep under a stormwater pond adjacent to a residential development. The fifth drill was 1,700 feet long to minimize impacts to the local residents and roadway traffic. The final drill was 930 LF passing under a newly installed loading dock and parking lot to minimize the impact to local businesses of an open- cut installation.
