McKim & Creed served as the mechanical, electrical and plumbing partner for the Avery County High School renovations project. We developed the design to connect power to the redesigned, water-cooled chiller plant.
The new chiller was larger in capacity and required significantly more electrical power. McKim & Creed upgraded the electrical service to provide for a new utility transformer, a new service entrance panelboard, and additional panelboards. These additional panelboards feed the new chiller and new pump motors and to reconnect the existing loads.
The new chiller unit provides heating and cooling capacity to the existing facility as well as the new two-story classroom wing that was constructed as part of this project. The high school remained in operation during the construction process.
