The need for multi-family housing is skyrocketing in Wilmington, North Carolina. For the past several years, apartment occupancy rates have remained steady at 95% or above, according to the Greater Wilmington Business Journal.
So, it’s no surprise that Woodfield Investments—a company with multi-family projects throughout the South and Mid-Atlantic—decided to expand into the Wilmington market with Indy West Apartments.
For this 254-unit, 15-acre project, McKim & Creed provided land planning service, developed design and construction documents, and secured site/civil permits to support the apartment community, which includes a pool and clubhouse. The apartment community is situated adjacent to extensive wetlands and floodplain, thereby creating challenges in site design and stormwater management.
McKim & Creed also designed a temporary pump station on the site while Cape Fear Public Utility Authority upgrades the station that will ultimately serve the apartments.
