NC State University Watauga Hall HVAC System Replacement

McKim & Creed provided project management and mechanical, electrical, structural and asbestos abatement design for this project, which included replacing the air-cooled chiller, outside air handling unit, fan coil units, and outside air supply ductwork. New direct digital controls (DDC) for all replacement equipment were included. During the schematic design phase, insulation was removed in select locations, piping condition was reviewed, and all piping was replaced. Existing ductwork system was surveyed using camera/video recording. Portions of the ductwork systems were replaced, while the remainder was cleaned and the liner resealed for the main duct riser.

Additionally, this project won the annual project implementation award in 2015 from the North Carolina State Construction Office (SCO). This award recognizes excellence in both design and construction, and is one of the top awards for projects in North Carolina.
