McKim & Creed provided civil engineering, landscape architecture and surveying services to North Carolina State University for the extension of Initiative Way on Centennial Campus. The project extended the roadway from its former terminus at Blair Drive to connect at the Oval Drive storage lots near the existing park and ride facility. The project involved approximately 1,500 LF of a two-lane asphalt roadway pavement with concrete curb and gutter, site lighting, landscaping and drainage. The project also extended approximately 328 LF of roadway to tie Blair Drive to its terminus located along Centennial Parkway.
The project was an important part of the continued growth of NCSU Centennial Campus. This road extension completed a loop around the campus and provides additional ingress and egress out to Centennial Parkway, which will alleviate vehicular congestion on campus.
