NCSU Close-King Indoor Practice Facility

North Carolina’s hot, humid, wet weather has often proven to be a fierce foe of the NCSU Wolfpack—until now. The university’s new Close-King Indoor Practice Facility provides Wolfpack outdoor sports teams with the protected practice space they need to condition, train, and prepare for the most difficult of challenges.

The McKim & Creed design team put its own rigorous training and preparation into practice by providing innovative mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering services for NCSU’s $14-million indoor practice facility in Raleigh. The 93,000-square-foot, multi-use facility supports Wolfpack football, track and field, cross country, soccer, and baseball programs with a 120-yard regulation football practice field (with artificial turf); track sprint lanes; field event training pads; and support areas for equipment, strength training, conditioning, and sports medicine.
