McKim & Creed provided route planning, surveying and easement mapping and pipeline design services for the proposed 7-mile gas transmission/distribution line in Brunswick County, North Carolina. In conjunction with this project, McKim & Creed prepared pipeline designs for over 32,500 LF of 10-inch by 0.25-inch 52ksi steel main; including three horizontal directional drills to traverse wetlands, an archeological site and Barnard’s Creek. The first drill extended approximately 1,600 LF under Mallory Creek as well as adjoining sensitive environmental lands. The project was completed with relatively shallow cover to provide future maintenance access if needed.
