McKim & Creed performed evaluations and assessments to reduce hardness and salinity and remove PFAS compounds found in the existing wellfield. Water sampling and testing results indicated that PFAS levels in the groundwater and finished water systems exceed the EPA’s new PFAS regulations. McKim & Creed led the Town through the new “Emerging Contaminants” Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) process and secured $3.1 million for the design of a new groundwater reverse osmosis (RO) plant. The plant design includes a filtered blending stream to reduce chemical costs. The team performed calculations to determine the maximum blend ratio to achieve compliance with the April 2024 PFAS regulations. McKim & Creed recently completed the final design of the new RO plant with a design flow of 1.0 MGD.
