Saltwater Disposal Well and Unloading Facility

disposal well and unloading

McKim & Creed personnel led a progressive design-build project for a saltwater disposal well and unloading facility that accepts produced water from oil and gas operations, treats the produced water for solids, and deep-well injects the waste for disposal. McKim & Creed worked together with the client to select a process that includes oil/water separation, suspended solids coagulation, flocculation, settling and filtration, and pressurization for deep well injection. The system is fully integrated and has remote monitoring capabilities. An operations trailer and modularize electrical building were included to ease remote operations.

The system includes the design of three truck unloading bays to allow for expeditious delivery of the produced water. In addition, separate truck load-out stations are available to allow the client to resell or dispose of oil/condensate, solids or clean brine. Both the truck unloading and the tank battery include a series of sumps and concrete containment to capture any spills from the system.

Design services included site, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and process design, as well as equipment procurement, construction support, and startup and commissioning of the system. In addition, McKim & Creed led the construction, startup and commissioning onsite and was responsible for providing the turnkey solution to the client.
