SAS Photovoltaic System

SAS Institute implemented the second of two phases of solar power systems that more than doubled generation capacity from 1.0 MW to 2.2 MW. The solar panel systems are located on a 12-acre site on SAS’s headquarters campus. The system utilizes a straight-line single axis tracking system to increase solar collection by 25% over fixed solar arrays. McKim & Creed provided engineering for the electrical systems for the Phase II implementation, as well as switching and control systems for interconnection to the Duke Energy utility grid to sell power.
