McKim & Creed worked in a collaborative manner with Tampa Bay Water (TBW) to execute their SCADA Master Plan. We prepared a plan that gave TBW a clear roadmap for the SCADA system improvements.
The project execution included six workshops with the client to understand their goals and assist them in working through options to improve their SCADA system. Field research was performed to survey the existing SCADA system as well as security, networking, standardization and installation practices. This data, along with the results from the workshops, was used to analyze the possible improvement methods and develop options to meet TBW’s goals.
A series of technical memoranda was developed outlining the research and recommended options. These technical memos were shared and discussed with TBW and refined to best exhibit the goals and recommendations. A final report was developed summarizing the project execution, itemizing the research findings and workshop results, detailing the recommendations and listing the justifications. A series of projects was developed to be used as a roadmap for TBW over the next five years to achieve their goals as defined in the study. The project write-ups included a summary of the work, budget and estimated schedule for implementation. A presentation of the final report was developed and presented to the TBW project team and management.
This project was awarded a 2022 Engineering Excellence Honor Award by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida (ACEC-FL).
