McKim & Creed provided SUE, topographic survey and digital terrain modeling (DTM) services along a 9-mile segment for the 26-mile northerly extension of the Suncoast Parkway. The survey was completed within an aggressive, five-and-a-half month schedule.
Data collection included cross sections and all natural and man-made features, facilities and improvements. The route for the corridor included widths of up to 500 feet through undeveloped, natural and mostly overgrown terrain. Techniques and equipment used included photogrammetry, the use of ATVs and GPS in open fields, total station data collection, and conventional cross-sections with automatic levels and rods.
SUE services for the project included the mapping of 55,000 linear feet of various underground utilities. Project included 130 vacuum excavations to determine utility type, size and depth. SUE work was performed at locations where the proposed extension to the existing Suncoast Parkway was designed to cross or tie into existing roadways.
