McKim & Creed provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and fire alarm (MEP/FP) design services for two new UNC Health Nash medical office buildings in Nashville and Middlesex, N.C. Together, the facilities expand healthcare infrastructure and support greater access to care for growing communities in central Nash County and the surrounding region.
Nashville Medical Office Building
The 16,000-square-foot Nashville medical office building was designed with flexibility in mind, including 3,000 square feet of warm dark shell space to accommodate future healthcare uses. McKim & Creed designed rooftop air handling units paired with variable air volume (VAV) boxes and electric reheat to provide climate control and energy-efficient operation throughout the facility. Electrical systems provide reliable lighting and power to support healthcare providers, patients and future buildout of the space.
Middlesex Medical Office Building
The 20,000-square-foot Middlesex medical office building supports a range of healthcare functions, including multiple exam rooms, an X-ray room, MRI suite, clinical support spaces and a prominent 5,000-square-foot lobby. McKim & Creed designed high-performance building systems focused on occupant comfort, safety and operational efficiency.
Mechanical systems provide temperature and humidity control throughout clinical and public areas, supporting both patient care and sensitive medical equipment. The electrical design incorporates reliable power distribution, energy-efficient lighting and emergency systems, while plumbing systems emphasize reliability and water efficiency. An integrated fire alarm system provides comprehensive life safety coverage throughout the facility.
