UNC Wilmington Westside Regional Energy Plant

This energy plant project included the design of a new 1,200-ton chiller plant that replaced in-building chilled water system of seven buildings. The energy plant design included over 3,100 LF of trenching and almost two miles of hot water and chilled water pipe. The plant was designed for the future to add another 600-ton chiller, associated tower and pumps. The cooling towers were designed with a side stream water filtration system to keep the condenser water clean to reduce fouling of the chiller’s condenser.
