McKim & Creed provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design services for six oncology centers located throughout Western North Carolina. These projects totaled $24 million and included new USP<800> compliant pharmacies for sterile compounding of hazardous drugs. To achieve a high level of occupant comfort, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) technology was used in key areas. Backup electrical generation was provided to ensure consistent thermal regulation of chemotherapy drugs. This project was delivered through construction manager at risk (CMAR).
