McKim & Creed was responsible for designing and building a water intake structure, pump station and pipeline to transport water from the Youghiogheny River to a freshwater pipeline in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. The pipeline connects the water intake structure and pump station at the river to a central impoundment facility designed and built by the client.
McKim & Creed developed detailed drawings for the pipeline route with proposed locations and sizing for the pump station, isolation valves, and combination air release and vacuum valves. The team also procured all equipment and materials. McKim & Creed also led the construction, start up, and commissioning activities on this design-build project.
