Weyerhaeuser, one of the world’s largest private owners of timberlands, has introduced West New Bern, a Weyerhaeuser Community, in New Bern, North Carolina. Located just six miles west of New Bern’s historic downtown district, West New Bern offers opportunities for restaurants, retail, office, light industrial and residences along the quadrant of N.C. Highway 43 and U.S. Highway 70, a major corridor for the local area and for travel between Raleigh and the coast.
Phase I features up to 1,500 homes, Main Street shopping and dining, plus outparcel retail and commercial space. Ultimately, West New Bern will boast proposed amenities including a 35-acre lake chain, nature trails, fitness center and community meeting house.
McKim & Creed was awarded contracts for both geomatics and engineering services.
