This state-of-the-art, multi-peril applied research and training facility was designed to test the effects of wind, water, fire and hail on full-size houses and structures built inside a test chamber within the facility. The chamber contains 105 high-powered fans capable of creating hurricane force winds. United Engineering Group’s work on this project (prior to acquisition by McKim & Creed) involved the design of a new 4.16-kV, 35-MW electrical substation and associated distribution system to meet the facility requirements.
