Having combined water and wastewater systems totaling 3,000 miles of infrastructure with about 15 miles added annually, the city had to expand and improve its water modeling method. Replacing the previous model which only illustrated pipes 12-inches or larger in diameter, McKim & Creed developed new water and sewer system models that incorporate every pipe, regardless of size. The new models enable city staff to predict and prevent potential problems, and determine necessary improvements.
