Fifty years ago, the substation located in historic downtown Savannah, adjacent to the riverfront and River Street, provided electricity to residents throughout the city. The substation has since become outdated, and Georgia Power is in the process of demolishing the old station and building a new one in a site that doesn’t block scenic river and downtown views.
