This sports complex consists of a 15,000-seat stadium expandable to 40,000 seats, an approximately 58,000-SF building, a separate team building, a stadium field and two practice fields. Some important design elements of the project included 1) site orientation that visually relates with the adjacent buildings on the Charlotte Research Institute campus, which enhances views and connections back to the main campus; 2) simplicity of design with an emphasis on economic and timely construction; 3) effective and efficient HVAC, electrical, and communication systems; 4) building design standards applied to become a LEED certified building; and 5) the ability to add future buildings at end zones and space for additional seating. This project was completed by United Engineering Group prior to its acquisition by McKim & Creed.
