The North Durham Sanitary Sewer Basin is one of the fastest growing basins in the City
of Durham due to the area’s growing population. The Eno River Outfall and Lift Station
Upgrades provide the infrastructure to handle flow projections based on the City’s sanitary
sewer model. The upgrades provided nearly 17,000 linear feet of new 24-, 36- and 48-
inch pipeline and increased the firm capacity of the City of Durham’s largest wastewater
pumping station to 24.4 MGD to allow for safe conveyance of wastewater. This project was
completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
